Personal Care & Hygiene
Support with bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting — offered with dignity, and structured to build independence where it's possible.
Hands-on help with daily living for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and developmental delays — delivered at home and out in the community, and always aimed at building independence rather than replacing it.
What is In-Home & Community Supports? IHCS is an ODP waiver service that provides direct, hands-on assistance with everyday activities — personal care, cooking, cleaning, safety, community errands — for a person with a disability. The distinguishing idea is that support is meant to teach and build skills wherever possible, so the person becomes more independent over time, not more reliant.
Some days need a hand with the basics — getting washed and dressed, making a meal, keeping the apartment liveable, remembering the medication. Other days it's about getting to the pharmacy, managing money at the shop, or handling a situation that got overwhelming. In-Home & Community Supports covers all of it.
What sets it apart from just "doing things for someone" is the goal. Wherever it's realistic, our staff support the person to do the task with help rather than having it done for them — because every skill learned is one less thing that needs a paid hand tomorrow.
All of it runs through the Individual Support Plan and your Supports Coordinator, so the help at home connects directly to the outcomes your team already agreed on. And because Miracle Makers is a licensed Pennsylvania provider serving every county in the state, families don't lose their provider when life moves them across a county line.
Built around the individual's own goals — not a fixed checklist.
Support with bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting — offered with dignity, and structured to build independence where it's possible.
Cooking together, planning meals, laundry, tidying and keeping the home safe and liveable — learning the routine, not just the result.
Building a daily rhythm — waking, meals, appointments, sleep — that gives structure and reduces the stress of an unplanned day.
Medication reminders, recognising when something's wrong, and knowing what to do and who to call in an emergency.
Shopping, the pharmacy, appointments, and practising the bus or train routes that make independent travel possible.
Handling cash and cards, budgeting for the week, and speaking up — the practical adult skills that make independence real.
The name says it: this service works both inside the home and out in the community, and most people use a mix of both.

We pair a support professional based on the specific needs, the personality fit and the schedule — not simply who's free that week.
